Unmasked Dance
by ~BelleJalousieShall we glide into the darkness,
and kiss each others delicacy?
The rose's color is scarlet, the thorns sharp.
But your eyes tell me another story.
Once the moon has it's rightful place,
we will move into the pale spotlight.
Dance with me; I'll follow you.
Fool! The rose's thorns have not been trimmed.
I'll invite you into the masquerade ball
where we shall wear masks of black.
You will give me a rose, the petals gone,
to show me what is to come.
Have you received my note of flesh,
with the ink the color of red?
'Tis my expression of endearment.
Unfold the blanket and explore what beats within.
Let's keep this hush-hush, darling;
I'd hate to have to see you go.
That bittersweet scent in the red paint
would be my way of bidding you fare-well.
Follow the beauty in the black dress;
the voices of caution in your mind lie!
Silence the warnings; do you not see my smile?
Or, perhaps, you truly are blind.
Oh, what shall I do with this harmonious song?
I truly do not mislead you tonight.
Can you fathom this? My words are true!
You are the flame that thaws the ice within.
I hold one rose within my bouquet.
It will be wrapped in black ribbon and sent to you.
This rose's petals have blossomed, it does not have thorns.
Perhaps this will prove that I am your queen.
